What is reader?
reader turns web articles into podcast episodes. Paste a URL, and within a minute or two you'll have an audio version waiting in your private RSS feed — ready to play in any podcast app.
How it works
- Submit an article URL via the webapp, the Firefox extension, or the Android share sheet.
- reader fetches the article, strips ads and clutter, and converts the text to speech.
- The audio file is added to your private RSS feed.
- Your podcast app picks it up automatically on the next refresh.
Who's it for?
Anyone who'd rather listen to their reading list than stare at a screen. Built originally for personal use, reader is now open to a small number of users.
Integrations
- Firefox extension — convert any article with one click while you're browsing.
- Android app — share any URL from any browser directly to reader.
- Webapp — paste a URL and manage your library from any device.
Privacy
reader only stores what's needed to run the service: your Google login and the audio files you've generated. No tracking, no ads. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Open source
reader will be open sourced soon, with full self-hosting support. Stay tuned.
